On November 4, 2017 there was held a discussion of Convention on the Rights of the Child with youth living in Khajalia. Youth people discussed different rights which were violated, as well, how students’ self-government should react in case rights of the child were violated. They discussed how to overcome violation of rights of children in our country.
Choosing of partner schools
Young Pedagogues’ Union started choosing process of partner schools in Guria region. On 19-20th of October there were held presentations of the program at Ozurgety Municipality village Nasakirali and Lanchkhuti Municipality village Khajalia. The program aims to create group of leader teachers, parents and schoolchildren at 5 communities in Guria region. These groups will work in order to develop their own communities.
in 2016 Young Pedagogues’ Union published manual for ,,Teaching Convention on the Rights of Child’’ within the project ,,Convention on the Rights of the Child’’ (financial support US Embassy in Georgia), which consists of 16 lesson plans and animation films. The animation films were created with cooperation of Animation Development Fund. 16 animation films represent specific articles from the Convention. The films are based on true stories, which were converted to literature and directorial scripts.
The animation films are effective method for teaching Convention on the Rights of the Child, problem identification and popularization of the topic.
The manual and the animation films were followed with many positive comments and reviews. At present, online newspaper of Teacher’s House was interested in the topic. Please, see the article below:
Regarding the World Day Against Child Labour , with the initiative of Youth Centre there was held seminar about the topic ,,Child Labour and legislative regulation’’. Expert Koka Kighuradze held the seminar. At the meeting the focus was on the physical and social development of children. Young people talked about responsibility of the state, equal opportunities for children, interests, protection against violence. There was discussed specific case where there was emphasized the differences between legislation and practice.
The seminar was organized through Promoting Integration Tolerance and Awareness Program (PITA) which is funded by USAID. Young Pedagogues’ Union is the program partner in Ozurgeti.
