An online lecture on waste management

On December 22, 2020, by the initiative of Young Pedagogues Union's Youth Center , an online lecture on waste management was held as part of the Environmental Advocacy Campaign, led by representatives of the Center for Environmental Information and Education.
The purpose of the meeting was to obtain information on the methods and rules for the collection and storage of used batteries. The invited experts discussed in detail the challenges related to waste management, global waste statistics, essential components of management policy, waste management code, waste management pyramid, experience of other countries and social incentive campaigns.
It is also important to note that the speakers spoke about the technical regulations for battery waste management, which will come into force in 2021 and impose certain obligations on manufacturers.
At the meeting, the young people learned if the rules and regulations must be followed in the process of collecting the items used and determine in advance the company that will be able to recycle them in the future.
The event is organized within the framework of the "Tolerance, Civic Awareness and Integration Support Program" [PITA], implemented by the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG) with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
