Workshop on street dog problems

On April 24, 2019, with the initiative of the Union of Pedagogues, Workshop was held in the Center for Civic Engagement in connection with street dog problems. The meeting was attended by representatives of the local government, representatives of the structural bodies, non-governmental organizations and media. The advocacy campaign is being initiated on the initiative of the Young Pedagogues’ Union Leaders' School teenagers. Within the framework of which more than one meeting and discussion was held. However, there is still a problem for dogs, which are a threat to humans. 

Discussion focused on the issues of citizen security. In recent years the number of aggressive dogs increased in the municipality area, according to unverified data, the number of people who have been muffled by dogs in the last 3 months is beyond 250. 

The debate has led to methods of struggle against the problem. A subject of special consideration was about how to isolate stray dogs using humane methods. Conversations also included legislative regulations. 

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed that the Ozurgeti Municipality Sakrebulo and City Hall jointly, in accordance with the applicable law, will consider regulations regarding street dogs. A working meeting will be held in June this year, where the resolution will be discussed.
